What are the differences between the three ErecAid models?
The difference between the Esteem Manual and the Esteem Battery is simply that the Manual Model has a lever on the hand pump, and the Battery Model has a push-button instead. The Battery Model is intended for those with limited manual dexterity.
The Classic System, is a Manual Model as the Esteem Manual is, however it varies in design. The Classic System is an earlier version of the Esteem System, but has thin flexible tubing connecting the trigger-style hand pump to the cylinder; the Classic does not have a ring-loading cone. This system still has a 95% success rate, however is not as streamlined in appearance and in use, as the Esteem model.

Does Medicare or any of the Private Health Funds provide coverage for the ErecAid system?
Unfortunately, the ErecAid Systems are not provided for by Medicare. The majority of private health funds do provide partial coverage (usually about $300 to $500, depending on the fund), but this varies enormously. Each patient is advised to check with his provider on extras coverage.
Do Veterans’ Affairs cover the cost of the ErecAid system?
Yes, eligible war veterans (usually Gold Card Holders) are entitled to have the cost borne by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA). DVA do require a referral from a Specialist, specifying that they recommend the Osbon ErecAid System. The referral can be faxed to us for quotation, and forwarding to DVA. Upon approval, we then send the ErecAid System to the veteran. |
